Welcome to the Arctic Wednesdays Community Blog!

This blog will serve as a discussion space for participants and Observatory staff to share ideas, give feedback and tell the group about your experiences in the Arctic Wednesday program.

As we kick of the program, a couple reminders:
1. Please register in Fareharbor (our online booking system) if you haven't already to enter your health and safety information.
2. Please respond to the Doodle Poll with your availability to attend a program orientation meeting on either December 28th or 29th, or January 4th or 5th.

Kestrel 500 w/ LiNK on a tripod and wind vane system!

As you can see in a couple of the pictures here, our Kestrel 5000 w/ LiNK weather instruments have arrived! Christmas came early today thanks to Kestrel Weather Meters, which prompted both myself and Outreach Coordinator Will Broussard to immediately test our new instruments outside at our North Conway Village cooperative weather station (station NCON3). Kestrel was kind enough to include one tripod and a wind vane set up which allows the meter to vane back and forth in the wind and provide wind speed and direction data.

Next, we tested the Bluetooth function by downloading the Kestrel app to one of our iPhones to capture realtime and store data. Pretty exciting!

We'll be ready come our orientation meeting to provide all of your with a training on the units along with demonstrations of how you might view data and use them with your students.

That's all for now, but please check in periodically to this blog and start to add your thoughts about how you intend to integrate this experience into your classroom. Additionally, I'll be adding some sample survey questions for all of our teachers to be keeping in mind as we move through this program.

Talk to you all soon!
-Brian
