Trip on January 14, 2026

In just a short time, we will be heading to the top of Mount Washington for the very first time—and we can already feel a mix of emotions swirling around. Excitement is definitely at the top of the list. We are thrilled at the thought of learning more about this incredible mountain, especially during the season when it’s known for its extreme weather and dramatic conditions. Winter transforms Mount Washington into an entirely different world, and we can’t wait to experience it, observe it, and discover what makes it so unique.

At the same time, we have to admit there’s a bit of nervousness tucked in with that excitement. Mount Washington’s winter reputation is no joke. The powerful winds, frigid temperatures, and rapidly changing conditions make it both fascinating and intimidating. Knowing this reminds us that this trip isn’t just about the views—it’s about respecting nature, preparing carefully, and stepping outside of our comfort zone. There’s something humbling about heading into an environment that is so beautiful, yet so demanding.

Still, it’s the beauty that keeps pulling our thoughts forward.  We are excited to see the world from that height, to feel the winter air, and to witness sights that most people only see in photographs. We are especially looking forward to learning more about the science, geography, and weather that make Mount Washington such a powerful place.

As the trip approaches, we are choosing to embrace both the excitement and the nerves. They remind us that we are about to do something meaningful—something that will challenge us, teach us, and hopefully leave us with memories we will carry for a long time. Standing at the top of Mount Washington in winter feels like more than a destination. It feels like an adventure waiting to begin.
